CranioSacral Therapy near Asheville, NC

The quietest work in the room is often the deepest. A touch no heavier than a nickel, held at the body's central axis — and from there the system reorganizes itself from the inside.

I'll text you personally — usually within a day or two.
CranioSacral therapy near Asheville, NC — gentle cranial hold, client in deep rest
☾ What it is

Five grams, at the body's core

CranioSacral Therapy is a gentle, hands-on method for evaluating and freeing the craniosacral system — the membranes and cerebrospinal fluid surrounding and protecting the brain and spinal cord.

The touch is generally no greater than five grams — about the weight of a nickel. Restrictions in this system are released rather than forced, which improves the functioning of the central nervous system and, through it, the digestive, musculoskeletal, respiratory and circulatory systems.

Under this contact, most people drop into a state between waking and dream, close to deep meditation. It is an opening from within, not a manipulation from outside. It can be received fully clothed.

Why gentle reaches what force cannot

Some restrictions cannot be pushed through. The tissue between vertebrae, deep in the joints, at the base of the skull — these do not respond to pressure, they respond to invitation. Meet them with force and the body braces; meet them with a listening contact and the body's own intelligence does the correcting.

This is the inverse of the myofascial path, and the two meet in the same place. Many clients receive both across a series, sometimes within the same session.

The background. Years of advanced training in craniosacral and somatic work across more than one lineage, and a full-time clinical practice since — refined over time into an approach that is now my own.

If you want to know exactly where it comes from, ask me at your first session. I'm glad to tell you.

What people come in with

CranioSacral Therapy is used for a wide range of concerns. These are the ones that most often bring people to this table.

Migraines & headaches

Recurring head pain, including patterns that have not responded to medication or to work on the neck and shoulders alone.

TMJ & jaw tension

Temporomandibular joint dysfunction, clenching, grinding, and dental trauma — often addressed through optional intra-oral work.

Concussion history & TBI

Lingering effects of head injury, including concussions from years or decades ago that were never fully resolved.

Whiplash & neck injury

Upper cervical and anterior neck restriction left behind by impact, where the tissue never returned to its pre-injury state.

A nervous system that won't settle

Chronic stress and dysregulation held in the body — the sense of being braced with no immediate reason to be.

Trauma held in the body

Physical components of post-traumatic stress, approached slowly, trauma-informed, and entirely at your pace.

Anxiety & low mood

The somatic layer underneath — supporting, never replacing, the mental health care you may already be receiving.

Sleep & chronic fatigue

Difficulty settling into rest, and depletion that has outlasted every attempt to sleep it off.

What a series looks like

CranioSacral work unfolds in stages. Nothing here is required — each stage is offered, and you decide whether to go further.

1

The opening sequence

First sessions serve a dual purpose — treatment and assessment. A routine sequence covering positions along the spine and cranial bones establishes a baseline: how you respond, where restriction sits, which areas are asking for deeper work. Many people feel a marked shift from this alone.

2

Local work, deeper in

Once the system is moving, the areas your body identifies as needing more become clearer. We spend the time there. This is where the fluid dynamics of the spine begin to show what has actually been holding.

3

Intra-oral work — optional

Work inside the mouth addressing restriction in the anterior neck, jaw, upper cervical vertebrae, and access points to the cranial bones. Especially useful for TMJ dysfunction, migraines, concussion history, dental trauma, or whiplash. Optional, never required, and worth exploring if you want to go further.

4

Somatic dialogue — optional

An extension of the same principles into conversation with the body — helping it release the residual effects of past injury and difficult experience. What surfaces cannot be predicted, forced, chased, or achieved through effort. It is simply a door that opens for some people, when the body is ready. You choose whether to walk through it.

Questions, answered

How can something this gentle actually do anything?
Because it is not trying to overpower the tissue. The touch — around five grams, the weight of a nickel — is light enough that the body does not brace against it, which is exactly what lets restriction release. Force produces guarding; a listening contact produces change. Most people are surprised by how much happens under so little pressure.
What does a session feel like?
Most people describe dropping into a state between waking and dreaming, similar to deep meditation. You may feel warmth, subtle movement, tissue softening, or a sense of something unwinding. Some people feel very little during the session and notice the change over the following days.
Do I need to undress?
No. CranioSacral Therapy is received fully clothed. Comfortable clothing you can lie in for an hour is ideal.
What is intra-oral work, and do I have to do it?
Intra-oral work is done inside the mouth with a gloved hand, addressing restriction in the jaw, anterior neck, upper cervical vertebrae, and cranial bone access points. It is particularly effective for TMJ dysfunction, migraines, concussion history, dental trauma, and whiplash. It is entirely optional — it is offered, never assumed, and you can decline at any point.
What is somatic dialogue?
It is a way of working in conversation with the body, extending craniosacral principles to help release the residual effects of past injury and difficult experience. It cannot be predicted, forced, or pursued through effort — it is a possibility that opens for some people when their system is ready, and it is always the client's choice whether to follow it.
Is this a substitute for medical or mental health care?
No. This is bodywork, not medicine or psychotherapy. It works alongside the care you are already receiving, and I will say plainly if I think something belongs in another practitioner's hands.
Where are you located, and do you see clients from Asheville?
The studio is at 2 South Main St, Suite 26, in downtown Weaverville — about ten minutes north of downtown Asheville on 19/23. A large share of clients travel from Asheville, Woodfin, and across Buncombe County.
